The Nerja River Walk, or the “Cahorros” as it is known in Nerja, is an excursion, which requires a certain level of preparation, through the River Chillar. I would say that this excursion is a hike of moderate difficulty, but if you just want to get to the first swimming section, it is significantly easier and more people can do this part of the hike.
You are always surrounded by water, trees and local flora. You will also enjoy the relaxing sounds of the birds in the area.
It is important to know that Nerja Town Hall does not promote this walk. The Junta de Andalucia has introduced a protection and conservation protocol to combat fires in the area and another protocol regulating the use of the area will soon be introduced. This is to regulate poor use of the environment as much as possible.
It is a FREE nature park and you do not need any permit (to this day) to do this walk. Therefore, you should know how important the conservation of this area is.
