The Spanish Nerja is a popular one. The popularity of this place with 21,091 inhabitants is caused by two factors. Firstly, the 16 kilometers of beaches near Nerja that are part of the famous Costa del Sol. Nerja is also an attraction because of the ‘Caves of Nerja’, which attracts many day trippers to this place. Nerja itself was originally a fishing village. The squares are now mainly furnished with restaurants and terraces to serve tourists. ‘El Balcón de Europa’ is located near the center of the old town. This is a viewpoint and promenade on top of the cliff with beautiful sea views.
